This set of six 4'' by 7'' prints was printed via risograph in Kansas City, Missouri. Illustration was once one of the basic methods of scientific research. Before photography and various kinds of mechanical sensors, drawings from observation were the most sophisticated means of collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Although now largely out of date in both scientific and academic-art contexts, botanical illustration can be a contemplative and sacred activity in its own right.
